Five Books I recommend other than Harry Potter

I haven't blogged in a while and there is not much to say related to the website so here are some book recommendations, other than Harry Potter. I think its obvious that I like Harry Potter so here are some other books instead. These are not in any particular order.

Ruby Redfort series by Lauren Child

Ruby Redfort was first introduced to us in the Clarice Bean novels as her favourite books. Due to popular demand, Lauren Child wrote them herself. Ruby is a 13 year old secret agent for the Spectrum. So far there are two books in the series, Look into My Eyes and Take your Last Breath (released recently).

The Princess Diaries series by Meg Cabot

Some of you may have seen the Disney movies of these books, but trust me, these are better. The movies were targeted at a younger audience than the books were, so there were a lot of differences. I mean a lot! I made a list of them and so far I've got about 36. I might put them in blog one day. Anyway, the books are for teens, I would say probably 15 and up, and follow Mia Thermopolis through her high school years where she finds out she is the heir to the throne of a small European principality that many have never heard of (IRL it doesnt exist).

Inkheart Trilogy by Cornelia Funke

Ok, so I've only read the first on and about half of the second one, BUT, they are good. Real good. To sum them up, Meg and her father have a special ability that when they read out aloud, some characters from the book come into our world. Unfortunately, as cool as it that sounds, there are consequences.

Babymouse series by Jennifer L. & Matt Holm.

So these are graphic novels, but they are AMAZING! These inspired me to make my own comics (hence this website). They are really funny and I would recommend them to anybody, though all that pink may turn the boys away.

The Tales of Beedle the Bard by JK Rowling

I know, I know you could argue that this is apart of Harry Potter, but I consider this separate from the series so thats why its on the list. The Tales of Beedle the Bard are a collection of five short stories, which are basically the wizarding worlds fairytales. Just as we grew up with stories like Snow White and Rapunzel, young wizards and witches grew up with these stories to send them off to sleep. One of the stories is the Tale of the Three Brothers, which if you have read the Harry Potter books or seen the movies (or both), you know what I'm talking about. Also after every story, there are notes on them by Albus Dumbledore himself.
And that is all
Jess
