Gleje Comic Reviews: Teen Titans (2014) #6

Adding another member to a team always shakes things up doesn't it? Teen Titans #6 continues the story started in the last issue, in which a bunch of teens do drugs that give them superpowers, and decided to create havoc. because, thats what you do. Plus, we got a small glimpse of the new Power Girl. We get a much better look at her in this issue.  Even though she's just been introduced, I've taken quite a liking to Tanya Spears. I know thats she's already been in Worlds Finest, but I haven't read that series yet (Note to self: get on that)  She clearly brings a new dynamic to the Titans and has very clear opinions on what the Titans should be doing instead of what they are doing, which ticks Tim Drake off. Turns out Wonder Girl Cassie Sandsmark agrees with her, and then they ditch the others. Meanwhile, Beast Boy is undercover spying on Manchester Black, until he leaves, so he ends up snooping around S.T.A.R Labs. Sidenote, I'm getting some major Dr Wells level shadyness vibes from Manchester Black, I just don't trust him. Overall, I quite enjoyed this issue. Its clearly setting up for something big, and honestly I'm kind of excited. This is actually the first Teen Titans series I've ever read. If you are wondering where the review for 1-5 are, well I only discovered this series last month, and binge read it over my holiday, hence the lack of ANY review. Too busy enjoying WA. As for my opinion of the series as a whole, I'm really liking it. It's pretty fun, yet intriguing, and you feel like everything is eventually lead to something BIG. Will that actually happen? Well, only time will tell. I hope it does, because if it doesn't I'll be pretty disappointed. Anyway, more spoilery discussion under the cut.

The art in this issue (draw by Scott Hepburn, coloured by Dan Brown) is pretty good, fairly simple, but does it's job well. A couple of times some of the characters kinda just look... off, such as Cassie in this panel (at least in my opinion).

That being said, I do think that the facial expression in this issue are pretty great, (see Tim above), and I am a fan of the colouring, I like bright colours ;). 

In terms of art, this is my favourite page. I love all the detail in who I'm just going to assume is Trigon. Seriously, look at him! Combine that with the colouring, which is gorgeous (look at the glowing areas!) the artist have sure made him excellently terrifying! Good job. Also, Trigon is free. We're sooooo screwed (I may have never read the comics, but I used to watch the cartoon). Also, does anyone else think that those two musician Raven fans are going to end up pretty important? I mean they specifically were singled out and named.

Of course, this is all speculation at this point. But that's half the fun!.

So the issue ends with a bang, a literal bang. There is an explosion.  People have broken into the vault at S.T.A.R Labs and basically want to switch on all the dangerous machines the Lab has stored down there, which is bad. Considering Manchester Black tells Tanya and Cassie that the Vault is supposed to be super secure, this stuff is dangerous. Crap. Combine that and the possibility that monster is Trigon, bad bad things are going to go down.  I don't know about you, but I'm kind of hyped for the next issues in this arc.
